“What are you doing?”
His head jutted back. “What do you mean?”
Melissa stood beside me. I glanced at her to see she was
smiling as she said, “He means, why did you interrupt their little…tomfoolery?”
He opened his mouth, closed it, only to open it again to
say, “He shouldn’t want to…get with married men.”
“Why do you care what I do?”
He blanched, took a step back and closed his eyes. Once he
took a deep breath, he opened them, his eyes warmer. “I shouldn’t,” he uttered.
He shouldn’t what? Care?
My heart thumped, smiled and screamed: he cared.
Why?
The man in front of me confused me more than men who wore sandals and socks together.
