Review: Countermeasure by Chris Almeida & Cecilia Aubrey

Countermeasure by Chris Almeida  & Cecilia Aubrey Ann's rating: 4 of 5 stars I was completely sucked in to the mystery and intrigue of the story. Cassandra (Cassie) is a strong, intelligent woman who is not looking for love and is looking for her father’s approval. She is ex-CIA agent and was injured on the job, which made her rethink her future. She knows there was a traitor at the CIA but that story is never followed. She is assigned a security job by her father for a new drug and while on the job, the formula is stolen. Cassandra does not give up and enlists her ex-partner Nathan to help her find the information. Nathan, through the story, is a distraction, both to Cassandra and Trevor and to the story. He acts like the jilted suitor and unless he turns up in following stories, seems unnecessary. After Cassandra is thrown off the team her father gave her, is where the story really gets interesting and involved. The trail leads to NSA analyst Trevor Bauer, who has secre

Review: Cora's Kismet - Cheryl Davis

We have a new reviewer joining our awesome team. Please welcome Ann, who started off with a cracking read by Cheryl Davis. Reviewer: Ann  I got to the end of this fabulous book and kept trying to turn the page only to realize there were no more pages to turn. Cheryl’s characters feel real and alive. They are accessible and human, even though they aren’t. Exactly human that is. And that makes them even more interesting. I was happily sucked down the rabbit hole and to be honest, I didn’t want to come back up. I could have read another 200 pages about the fascinating culture that Cheryl Davis describes in this novel. It is completely original and fresh. We meet Cora and Viola. Cora is the level-headed and laid back twin, Viola the more flamboyant. The book begins with the girls at home, planning for their summer. Suddenly, an “attack” occurs and changes everything. They are introduced to a life they could have never imagined and to possibilities for the future b

Review: Secret Maneuvers - Jessie Lane

Secret Maneuvers by Jessie Lane My rating: 4 of 5 Fairies Secret Maneuvers successfully captured my attention and held it through the entire story. I enjoyed the concept, the writer's style and the characters. Both Bobby and Belle we likeable and had elements of realism to their reactions, mannerisms and relationship. This is an aspect that I especially enjoyed. The was a good level of drama and a whole array of tension. The heat between the two main characters was hot. A thoroughly enjoyable read and a series that I can happily continue reading. Secret Maneuvers  (Ex Ops #1) by   Jessie Lane   (Goodreads Author) Librarian Note: Alt/new cover edition for ISBN# 9781301452095. Some mistakes from the past haunt us forever... unless fate steps in with a second chance. One 'dear John' letter haunts Bobby Baker's every living moment. It’s the letter he stupidly wrote to his high school sweetheart, Belle, right after he left to join the Army. The letter that

Review: Corruption of the Soul by J.L. Vallance

Corruption of the Soul by J.L. Vallance Bex's rating: 4.5 of 5 stars Aedan and Evangeline are such an amazing couple to follow. Both characters are extremely well formed and created; this meant that getting up close and personal with them in Corruption of the Soul was a treat. For a short, there was fabulous sense of completion and a solid narrative structure. This ensured that I was left feeling content with the length, especially considering the level of depth, power and passion evident in both of these characters and the narrative detail. Once again, J.L. Vallance has produced a read that I loved. Corruption of the Soul  (The Guild Series 0.5) by   J.L. Vallance   (Goodreads Author) "Love conquers all--but sometimes, it destroys everything you are." It's a story that's been told since the dawn of time. Boy meets girl. They fall madly in love, for happiness is written in the stars. Their one true fate is to have happily ever a

Review: The Ninth Taghairm: Redemption - Pyxi Rose

The Ninth Taghairm: Redemption by Pyxi Rose Sarah Jane's Rating: 5 of 5 fairies On receiving this book, I wasn't sure what to expect as the title gave nothing away, I was pleasantly surprised to say this paranormal read was delightful. Talula is a lost soul who has adapted her miserable life to accepting her fate and being grateful for the enjoyment she can absorb. Gadin is a confused vampire who has decided not to live as a monster but he becomes enchanted by this lost soul and follows her into trouble. This is a very vague description; however, to give any more would be diluting a fantastic and gripping read. The Ninth Taghairm: Redemption (Taghairm Chronicles, # 1) by   Pyxi Rose   (Goodreads Author) There are far worse fates than death, but that is a truth Gadin Wilde knows all too well. He had to come to terms with his immortality from a sire that relished in the kill. He had eventually grown to accept the fact he was one of the damned; a vampire, an irredeema
